We’re proud to introduce a new passion project that combines our advanced equipment capabilities, mechanical aptitude, and a bit of artistry. Polar Metalworks, a division of RDT, is a new endeavor that focuses on custom metal fabrication projects.
Here's a little more about each step of the process and how Polar Metalworks can help you with your metalworks needs.
LASER METAL CUTTING
We're proud to be creating custom metal parts with clean lines and no burrs or burned edges, thanks to our new laser. This addition allows us to be on the technological lead of machinery, with less time between cuts and allowing us to get your parts to you with precision cuts and a faster turnaround time.
METAL FORMING
We're using the most efficient, cost-effective way to manipulate the metal we're using through the process of metal forming on our press brakes. By fashioning the metal through mechanical means, we can reshape it without altering it by adding or removing materials, so the mass remains unchanged. This allows us to produce projects with a quick production rate and avoid the waste of raw materials.
MEDIA BLASTING
Polar Metalworks is providing media blasting on our fabrication projects. What is media blasting? By using pressurized air, we're able to shoot pieces of abrasive material known as blasting material out of a nozzle onto the piece. The blasting strips away any paint, rust, or blemishes in the metal, giving us a clean surface and making the powder coating adhere better to the project.
POWDER COATING
Providing better coverage than wet paint, powder coating offers a thick, color retention finish to our metal fabrications. The process entails the application of electrostatically charged particles onto the surface of the metal. Once it's applied, the project is placed into our industrial oven to bake the powder. Resistant to scratches, chips, and general wear-and-tear, powder coating gives the projects smooth, even finishes without drips or signs of application like brush strokes. It's also an environmentally friendly product to use.
