RDT is a family owned and operated business. When we hire our staff, we bring them in to our work-family, and we take that position very seriously. In an effort to keep that family on the forefront of our operations, we are proud to feature some key staff members on our blog. We want this to serve as an introduction to them, and also as a humble brag about all the amazing work and effort they bring to our staff team.
We are chatting with David Schubarth this week, who is one of our project managers on the RDT team.
What do you see as the biggest challenges facing the industry today?
The biggest challenge I see to the industry, right now, is automation. More and more customers are wanting to “set it” and “forget it”. We are constantly researching new methods to automate the changes needed in the refrigeration process, and new communication abilities allows us to communicate the status of the fixtures in real time to the customer.
What current trends in refrigeration stand out the most to you?
The trend that stands out the most to me, is the “green” trend that is currently moving through the refrigeration industry. As we look for more ways to lower our carbon footprint while maintaining efficiency, it is exciting to see the new technology that is exploding in the industry.
In terms of the future, what excites you most about working at RDT?
What excites me the most about RDT, is the constant vision for the future. RDT is continuously perfecting techniques to stay at the top of our field.
Let's chat about you personally. What are some of your passions outside of work?
I read...A LOT. Some of my favorite books: The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, & Steel My Soldiers’ Hearts by David Hackworth. I am also an avid fisherman.
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Port Arkansas on the Texas Coast. Beautiful beaches and great fishing.
So, you work in the foodservice industry, huh? On a scale of 1-10, rate your cooking skills.
I am considered the cook in the family, so I would like to say 10, but it’s probably closer to 6.
The RDT Team is full of amazing people along with David. To schedule some time with one of us, be sure to check out the RDT Chill Team for a comprehensive discussion on anything refrigeration.
