This month in our Meet Our Team series, we introduce you to Production Scheduler Trey Paden. With RDT for 2 years, Trey is new to the refrigeration industry but puts a lot of heart into his work. Let's hear from him about life in the refrigeration "sphere" . . .
Can you walk us through a typical day in your job at RDT?
A typical day for me is I start off my mornings with emails, checking to see if our customers are needing updates on projects or questions about lead times or any urgent concerns they may have, and I begin prioritizing my day.
I walk the shop floor to talk to the team members in Production to see where they are at on projects, find out if they have any issues, and what timeframe they are looking at for completing their tasks. I also talk with production supervisors/leads on tasks that need to be accomplished and inform them of customer needs and requests.
Depending on the day, I will attend/lead meetings for ways to inform our team on scheduling and ways to better improve our work. Throughout the day, I will update customers on their projects, release incoming projects to production, and work with customers as projects are completed to get them ready to ship out.
I am in and out of the office all day, solving problems, updating our team, and doing my best to help our customers to the best of my ability with anything they need.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is when we make a plan for a project, we execute the plan, and we deliver a quality product to our customers.
Do you have a particularly memorable project or experience from your time at RDT?
The MSG Sphere project was probably the most memorable project. It was a very large project with a very tight deadline that we had to meet. Our team did a great job of working together through the ups and downs, and we completed this project in a timely manner.
What role does innovation play in the refrigeration industry?
Innovation plays a big role in refrigeration. It brings new ways to better improve our equipment and give the best quality product to our customers.
Do you have a favorite restaurant you love to go to?
Texas De Brazil has been one of the best restaurants I have been to. And anything with the letters BBQ.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. My three kids keep me on my toes. I enjoy golfing, hunting, fishing - basically anything sports related.
I enjoy most things physical fitness, but not so much running . . . I'm getting old, and the joints aren’t what they used to be.
What do you think sets RDT apart from other commercial refrigeration manufacturers?
RDT is a faith-based company, and we strive to go above and beyond to the best of our ability for the needs of our customers.
